SBTRKT x Frank Ocean

by Michael

Listen to SBTRKT‘s remix of Frank Ocean’s “Thinking About You.” SBTRKT’s remix adds some echoes and well timed synths, but ultimately, leaves the majority of the key components intact while adding some bass and enough glitchiness to make it his own. Stream it below.

Lauryn Hilll

by Michael

Check out Toronto producer, Deebs, chopped up rework of Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing).” The remix creates an interesting dance oriented rework of the original using chopped up vocals and a lot of bass and space. Sometimes old school meeting new school can turn out really well, and this is one of those instances.

Omari Shakir

by Michael

Omari Shakir is a member of the Weeknd’s XO collective. In addition to being a part of a movement with Drake, titled OVOXO, the XO gang is blowing up by doing its own thing. Shakir is a part of whats blowing up with the XO collective. He has put out a couple tracks on his own, but is making huge noise today with the premier of his latest single “Different.” Fans of Kid Cudi will like his sing-song flow, and fans of the unique production that the Weeknd’s been known for will enjoy the Eastern-tinged beat. No word on when we’ll hear more from this guy yet, but with the quality of this single, I imagine it will be really soon. Watch the trippy video below (starts at 15 seconds) and download the song below.
